Planning Your Treatment
The first step to treatment is scheduling a consultation with one of our dentists at Anderson Dental. Dr. Dennis Walker or Dr. Rika Furukawa will examine your teeth and determine whether you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers. We may take x-rays and impressions of your teeth at this time, or you may decide to wait until a later visit for us to do so.
Preparing the Teeth for Porcelain Veneers
When the time comes to prepare the tooth or teeth for porcelain veneers, our dentist will use local anesthesia to numb the area. We will then remove a small amount of enamel from the tooth’s surface so that the veneers will be a natural fit in your mouth. Once the enamel has been trimmed, the dentist will make an impression of the teeth to receive the porcelain veneers. From this impression, a dental laboratory will be able to construct veneers that are the perfect size and shape for you.
Bonding the Porcelain Veneers
After one to two weeks, your custom crafted porcelain veneers will be ready to be bonded to your teeth. Before the veneers are affixed to the teeth, your Anderson Dental dentist will temporarily place it on the tooth and examine the color, shape, and fit of the veneer. Our dentists are not satisfied with placing a porcelain veneer unless it looks and feels like one of your natural teeth. The tooth that is being treated will be cleaned, polished, and etched to ensure a firm bonding surface. Our dentist will bond the veneer to your tooth using a dental adhesive that hardens when exposed to a special light beam. After a few adjustments, you will be ready to show your healthy, flawless smile to the world. You will leave our office a more confident person with a glowing smile.
